A LETTER TO JACK
about Joe .... from Ernest
This letter written in 1949 by Ernest Hemingway to a journalist named Jack, was in an auction in 1968. The fact that Ernest is still recalling his fight with Joe Knapp and the witness of same eg. "Ben Finney, Julio Sanchez and all of BIMINI" 14 years after it happened makes me think that he must of thought about it more than a few times and he probably retold the story many times as well.
It seems appropiate that I would discover this letter on the upcoming 72nd anniversary of Nat Saunders writing his big hit the "Big Fat Slob in Bimini" song (on Queen Victoria's Day in May,1935) on the very day that Queen Elizabeth paid us rascallions a visit here in the colonies in 2007!
