"FROM A DISTANCE"
This great shot of the Mastic Peninsula, was taken this week of November 2011 by my pal Marty Vanlith, as he flew out of or into Islip. It suggested to me to borrow the title from songwriter Julie Gold's great tune, "From A Distance" that was recorded by both Nanci Griffith and Bette Midler. If you have never heard it you need to! Especially if your one of those folks that still lives there and is still taking sides over who is right or wrong about the future of the place.

For those who have asked me, my pal, Gary Messinetti, who is former US Navy pilot & MB native, estimates the altitude is around 5 - 8 thousand feet
