There's not a person I spoke with over the the last 7 years or so I have had my website online, that lived in the Mastic - Shirley area during the late '40's, '50's and '60's that said they wouldn't trade growing up for any place else or a million bucks. Others who moved there in the last decade or so write and tell me, " I can't believe this place was once like this!" IT WAS !!! Yes we were all living on the once grand estates of past millionaires and we too, although sons and daughters of Joe Bluecollar were true Rich Kids and Metaphorical Millionaires if you will. However that said , if Walter T, who died in 1963 could come back today, I know he would not be a happy camper and I believe he would be demanding a whole lot of answers from those in charge who came after him as to What The Hell HAPPENED!
This website was never meant to be a political one in any way shape or form, That is not my style__ but I too am very saddened about what I have personally seen my hometown area become. BUT I AM HOPEFULL! (this could be a good year for Hope!) that the Good People of which I personally know are still living there, will eventually be able to gain control again and straighten things out. That's my Two Cents....Nuff said ...now back to the Good News
My big sister Gerri went to Center Moriches High School (class of '56) with Richie and he palled around with her high school boyfriend Dennis Kiernan. Richie was at our house many times.
