The Ferries In Sausalito That Take You Across The Bay To Tony's Place
Though we only got to spend two nights and a day in it , it became pretty apparent that songwriters George Cory & Doug Cross knew what they were writing about in 1954, when they came up with Tony Bennett's signature tune.

CROSS OVER THE BRIDGE
The tour took us across the Golden Gate to the Sausalito side again. It was over 100 Degrees again that day, But As We Crossed Over The Bay The Temp Dropped Over 30 Degrees!!! It Was Like Walking Into A Refrigerator. The bus then stopped for 15 minutes on the plaza where a monument honors all the branches of the US Armed Forces from WW2 marked by a statue titled The Lone Sailor as this is the point where all who went to war in the Pacific last saw the United States and far too many for the last time.

As I took this my thoughts were of what my father was thinking as he sailed away from here in 1943. The next day on the flight back, would you believe my seat companion was an 89 year old Navy Vet of WW2 in the Pacific, who was on his way to a reunion with his remaining 15 shipmates in Texas. I told him my Dad was in the Sea Bees in the Pacific during "the big one" and we had ourselves quite a conversation .
JUST ONE MORE BEFORE I GO
Remember the first pic I posted for this deal, where I said I now knew what tunesmith Jimmy Webb was writing about when he wrote songs about California? Well as I was taking those pics of the Sonoma Coast this Dodge just appeared. It was almost like Jimmy sent it there at that moment in time ....

The Last Verse Of Jimmy's Tune "TOO YOUNG TO DIE" Goes Like This
And When I Die I Don't Want To Go To Heaven
I Just Want To Drive My Beautiful Machine
Up North On Some Sonoma Country Road
With Jimmy Dean And Steve McQueen
And All The Boys Be Singing .....
