The song you are hearing is just one of the many Doc wrote that became part of the soundtrack of the Baby Boom generation. Others included THIS MAGIC MOMENT, YOUNG BLOOD, HUSHABY, TEENAGER IN LOVE, VIVA LAS VEGAS, SUSPICION , LITTLE SISTER and SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME which has always been one of my favorites of his. I recorded it today for something to do to occupy some time as I heal up.
One of the cardinal rules most good songwriters use is, they write what they know (and feel ) Well, Doc sure knew and felt this one as the story behind it was, he wrote it after his wedding reception as he watched his bride dance the night away.

These are the ones I used on what you are hearing : Two classicals, 12 String, parlor 6 String steel, and electric on the bridge
If the song isn't playing in your browser by now,
Doc was one of the legendary songwriters associated with The Brill Building on Broadway in New York City. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but have writer and musician friends that have, and between their stories about him and what I have read, I know we would of hit it off and perhaps even wrote something together !. Even if your not a songwriter, the book on his life "LONELY AVENUE" is a great read. There is also a film titled AKA DOC POMUS that I plan on seeing. Google his name and you'll find a lot of info on both.

AS IT TURNS OUT, DOC IS LAID TO REST JUST A STONES THROW FROM DOUG PERCOCO, MY ORIGINAL BANDMATE IN THE ISLANDERS & THE CONTINENTALS. WE PLAYED DOC'S TUNES IN OUR BAND BACK IN THE EARLY 60's . NEXT TIME I'M ON LONG ISLAND VISITING DOUG, I WILL BE PAYING DOC MY RESPECTS.
