Woke Up To Snow That Was Not Supposed To Arrive Until This Afternoon

City is basically CLOSED as is most of the state ...

So with that in mind, and being snowbound, I started thinking about the video

I posted on you tube last evening of a tune that Bob Cheevers

and I wrote around 25 years ago that sort of answers the question,

WHERE DO SONG IDEAS COME FROM ?

I say sort of cause they come from all over. Just yesterday afternoon I heard Billy Joel

talking about how he came up with his song Allentown . He says it started with trying to write it as

Levittown ,a place next door to his hometown in Hicksville.

I would say that after he got frustrated with trying to write it as Levittown,

Allentown just might of been buried in his sub concious as it was

a place that goes back to the days our bands played together.

I talk about that here on my Long Island Bar Band History Pages

That said here is an excerpt from my music bio book "If The Devil Danced In Empty Pockets ",

that talks about how the very first tune I wrote with Bob Cheevers, (now a Texas Tunesmith ) came to be

ONE THING I KNOW IS, YA NEVER KNOW WHEN THE SONG FAIRY

WILL FLIP THE SWITCH ON IN YA CRAINIUM.

And with that said ,

It wasn't until we had started writing the first verse that we discovered our title ,

which is word play of course on this very old classic western movie from 1939

AND HERE IS THE VID OF THE TUNE
