GIMME A BREAK

The Teachers Lounge 1960 & 1962

Meeting In Smokey Places

At the reunion Mr. Collins told me some horror stories about coping in this room. Originally it was slated to be the Clinic (the smoke in there had to make it a health hazard and when Peers lit up a cigar..... HAVE MERCY) That's Noble Wilshaw leaning on the soda crates, trying to read his Times while Alfred Peers lights up a stogie (YO AL!... PUT THAT %^^& CIGAR OUT WILL YA...GEEZ) The teachers were supposed to get the Clinic Room ( which was the size of a regular classroom ) for their lounge......but they didn't....probably had no union!

After All It Was Union Free School District 32

HERE IS THE ORIGINAL 1950 SCHOOL FLOORPLANS

Today the "Lounge" has been transformed into the Assistant Principals Office

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

FOR THOSE WHO ENDURED THEM, YOU WILL BE HAPPY TO KNOW THE ORIGINAL LOCKER ROOMS ARE

NO MORE....

I THINK THEY ARE NOW USED FOR JANITOR SUPPLY ROOMS... A GREAT PLACE TO STORE THE PINESOL. THOSE WHO KNOW ME, WILL TELL YOU THAT I WOULD OF TAKEN THEIR MUG SHOTS (FROM THE HALLWAY) IF THEY STILL EXISTED.

WHEN YOU GOTTA GO .....

The boys room by the Clinic.... Funny I don't remember the windows in the door. A few Kools & Lucky Strikes were lit up in here too. This was also the room the "Corvettes" honed their harmonies in for the Sweetheart Ball in 1958 and six years later at the Sweetheart Ball in February of 1964....a couple of guys I know slipped on Beatle wigs before heading back on stage.

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH
