MR. FLOYD GOES TO WASHINGTON

Actually he didn't.... In 1776 William Floyd went from Mastic LI to Philadelphia, PA to sign the Declaration of Independence. And judging by where his signature is placed, it's doubtful he was there in July.....many of the signers didn't get there till late August. You couldn't just hop on a train at Mastic Station you know!

Mastic Station

And the 8th Grade and Senior classes from the school that bore his name, would originally take their class trips to Albany ...the state capitol of New York. Not sure when they first changed that destination but this could be the very first class from Floyd to go to Washington.... The Eighth Grade Class of May 1956 ... many of them would also return in FOUR MORE YEARS! as the first High School Class in 1960.

An ancient Floyd tradition of water balloons out the hotel window knew no gender gap. Does anyone recognise these two Rascallians?
