THIS ONE'S FOR TOM MAGLIOZZI 1937 - 2014

" Don't Drive Like My Brother "

For many years on Saturday mornings around our house, you could almost bet on it, that the radio would be tuned into Car Talk . I had the double pleasure of listening for the human comedy Tommy & Ray brought to it and the fact that I had a degree in auto mechanics, from the days when cars had points and brand new PCV valves, of knowing when they were actually giving the caller good mechanical advice, which was more often than you would think when the laughs weren't drowning it out.

Back around the turn of the century ( 1999 or 2000 ) I had the honor and actually got paid ( a pittance ) for having this tune I wrote with Joe Diffie around the time Car Talk was first on national airwaves, played during their intermission. It was recorded in my spare bedroom "studio" right here in our fair city Nashville with Larry Keith on vocal, Russ Pahl on lead guitar ( a Gretsch 6120 ) John Vogt on upright bass, Jim Hoke on drums and your truly on Rhythm guitar. I still have the cassette of the entire show it was on. They truly were originals.
