Note: Acording to Claire Knapp's interview with the Long Island Press newspaper in 1912 The original home was then 125 years old which places it in another century circa 1787...as for the "West Wing" We know The Knapps built it in 1912-13.
On Thursday August 12th, 2004 I was making one of my annual routine stops at the Suffolk County Register of Deeds in Riverhead. I went there specificaly to look for Knapp Property in Bellport where they lived partime from 1890's - 1912....It now appears that they rented there. When I returned to my car, I had locked myself out of it. While waiting for " Miss Pam " to drive over from Shirley and deliver me a set of keys I went back inside and dug a little more .... this was one of the documents I found because of that ......
