Allow Me To Introduce You To ....
The Carpenters

Bunny Hoest Carpenter
Looking quite at home here in the den is Bunny Hoest aka "The Cartoon Lady".... Her syndicated cartoons "The Lockhorns" and "Howard Huge" appear in hundreds of newspapers throughout the country and in the Parade Sunday Magazines....Naturally I had to tell her that Sunday News Magazines were created by Joseph P. Knapp...Her readership numbers would knock J. P.s hat in the creek for sure!

Doctor Walter Carpenter
The good doctor who reminded me a bit of Pete Seeger, still has that sparkle in his eyes! I was told once upon a time he had two practices, one in this house and one in Sayville which is on the South Shore.

The Knapps were still 10 years away from coming into boatloads of mahogony when J .P. bought the Sea Sled Boat company in 1924.
That didn't stop him from using it throughout the house

The former servants quarters were converted into a Doctors Office . Here was part of the waiting room
The doctors former wife was real equesterian. There are ribbons and trophies through out the home .
Miss Claire A. Knapp would certainly approve!

"The Time Went Sailing By"
I had been there an hour when I snapped this and there still were the Stables & Grounds to see
