Knapp Lodge circa 1930's at Mackey Island : Wildlife Resource Center
Photographer David M. Stein took these fabulous color shots in 2007 & 2009 on the property that has been a National Parks Wildlife Refuge since 1961, but from 1918 - 1954 it was the personal estate of Joseph Palmer Knapp. I have yet to been able to visit it in person, but everytime I see any photos of the property, I am reminded of just how much it resembles his son and daughter's Knapp Estate in Mastic Beach. Only difference seems to be the size. Dodi & Claire had about 200 acres and their father had 2000 +.
