These two photos of the library and
Buck Dana's bedroom were taken in the summer of 1965 by Dr. Steeples.
Although Ella Dana had moved out into a smaller home on the estate,
it is evident that the grand old lady of 82 known as Moss Lots
was still in pretty good condition and still being cared for.
THE VERANDAH
circa 1910 / William Floyd Estate /

The verandah offered sweeping views
of Forge river and the south lawn. In the 1930's Eleanor Roosevelt
(the Roosevelt's & Danas were longtime friends) spent several
weeks at Moss Lots. Mrs. Estelle Schulz told me the story of when
she was a young girl of going up to the verandah with her sister
to meet Mrs. Roosevelt, while her father Bill Parr was either
working on Shep's automobiles. ( he had two Rolls - Royces )
or one of his speedboats.
