The Mastic News

"Progressive, Consistent, Reliable "

The two main local newspapers that served the Mastic area in the 1920's were The Center Moriches Record (1900-1935) and The Patchogue Advance which was around since the late 1800's.

I recently discovered in the archives of The Floyd Estate that the Floyd and Nichols kids who summered out there, put out there own little newsletter called The Mastic News. I don't know how many issues they printed but I found it to be very informative, colorful, and entertaining. It gives you a look at some of the people and places that were around before the area was developed.

Note: Tanglewold was the name William & Ella Baker's kennel and poultry farm. Clarence Ross worked for all the estates in Mastic. He is also the one who captured the seagulls for Leonard Bonney's airplane project.
