Want & More......
Here are maps of Sections A & D
of the ten thousand acres of Tangier
"A" being the north end at
Montauk Hwy and "D" the Fire Island Beach at
Smith's Point that Fred Quinby envisioned
as another Atlantic City
Each part of the maps that follow
are clickable and will enlarge to twice the size
The Nortwest Corner, Notice The Planned
Canals coming off the Conneticutt River
They were never dug. There's Smith
Road , Northern Blvd, Merrick Road etc
the Station Plaza is where the Shirley
Station was finally built in 1960
Surrey , Ostend , Essex Circles all
laid out Suffolk Blvd was to be the main 215 foot wide artery,
and it forks off
into The Green. All the roads on the
east side of it wound up just as they are pictured and named.
Quinby envisioned the Town Center just
about a 1/2 mile north west of where it developed twenty years
later.
