Pattersquash
Today
The first
three photos were taken in April of 2002 by Gary Messinetti
This was the
entrance off of Bayview Drive
This is where
the mansion stood

many Black Walnut Trees
The next photos
I took in January 2003. In some ways time has basically stood
still along the banks of Pattersquash Creek.
Looking
North on the Outer East Side Bank
creek
runs parallel about 100 feet in from this road

And Yesterday
This
photo from the Nassau County Museum, was taken by Henry Otto Korten
in 1905. It's titled "Squassocks Indians" and says the
location is Mastic Beach. That's interesting because there was
no such place until 1926. The photo must of had a reference to
one of the creeks that lied within the future tiny town. Are they
up in Pattersquash , Unkechogue, Home or Lon's Creek? I can only
say they are up in one of them and not without a paddle! With
that said, it is very fitting to me that I close this section
with some direct descendants of the original owners and namers
of a land called
"Pattersquas"
