THEME FROM A SUMMER PLACE (S)

Here are a couple of Summer Places The Knapps

Spent Time At On Long Island in the early 1900's

THE EDGEMERE BUILT IN 1894

The Edgemere Club was just outside the city in Far Rockaway, Queens NY

Elizabeth Laing Knapp (J.P.'s second wife) spent some time there in 1907 with her 13 year

old son Master McIwaine (Chip) & 15 year old step son, Master Knapp (Dodi)

ELIZABETH LAING MCILWAINE KNAPP HAD BEEN A MEMBER OF THE SOUTHAMPTON SUMMER COLONY SINCE AROUND 1904. AS MRS. J. P. KNAPP , SHE LEASED THIS PLACE CALLED TENACRE FROM AROUND 1910 - 1918 .

IN 1919-20 THE KNAPPS BUILT THEIR OWN TEN ACRE aka Cherry Creek Farm ON OX PASTURE ROAD IN SOUTHAMPTON , ELIZABETH PASSED AWAY THERE IN JUNE OF 1922. THE HOME WAS INHERITED BY HER SON CHIP AND IT''S STILL THERE

I'M STILL SEARCHING FOR PROBABLY THE FIRST KNAPP LONG ISLAND SUMMER HOME(s)
THE ONE(s) THEY HAD IN BELLPORT FROM THE 1890's - 1912. IT WAS MOST LIKELY LEASED &
IT'S HIGHLY LIKELY THAT IT TOO IS STILL STANDING.
