EARLY MASTIC BEACH
and it's
FAMOUS FIVE CORNERS LOCATION
THE CARETAKERS COTTAGE
STANDING AT THE FIVE CORNERS AROUND 1923
These are the Clune children Mildred, William and Arthur . Their mother Lorretta. is sitting under the tree with the family dog which is a Clairedale chow. The William & Loretta Clune Family were caretakers for the Lawrences & the Knapps as well as the Robert, Lanier, & Lawsons, all who owned The Richard Floyd Estate aka Doctors Point that Doc Calabro bought in 1946 and turned into Bayview Hospital. They also worked for the Smiths and Tolfrees
The path behind them is Neighborhood Road leading away to the left . Take it and you would be heading east
The Caretakers Home Is Circled On
The Map.
The blue is the headwater of Pattersquash
Creek
Compare it to the photo below taken
in 1946 of Pat & Mike's Opening Up
Those kids were standing about where
the station driveway is
BIG BIG THANKS TO
BOB SIRIANI
FOR SENDING IN THAT EXTREMELY RARE
PHOTO
IN 1949 HIS PARENTS BEN & ANITA
WOULD OPEN THE MASTIC BEACH DELI
WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO PAT & MIKES
HERE IT IS NEARLY READY TO OPEN
The Rooftop Of The Caretakers House
Is Still Visible. In the 1950's
"Grandma Ennesser" lived
in it . She was the cook for Bayview Hospital
By 1956 the house was surrounded on
three sides. Doc Calabro gave it away and it was
moved by Norman Bell to Railroad Ave.
Center Moriches near the bypass. According to Bob Siriani it is
still there
I knew that some people had to have
photos of the early days
