THE DANA ESTATE
WAS A HUGE VICTORIAN HOME KNOWN AS
"MOSS LOTS"
LOCATED ON FORGE RIVER JUST NORTH OF
THE THE FLOYD ESTATE . IT WAS CONSTRUCTED BY KATHERINE FLOYD DANA
AND USED BY THE FAMILY UP THROUGH THE EARLY 1960's
Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt spent three weeks
here in the late 1930's. At one point there was talk of using
the property to build William Floyd School on it. The Dana's socialised
and hunted with the Knapp's. Their much larger home, suffered
the same fate as the Knapp's did, first it was vandalised and
eventually torched.
