KNOT A KNAPP BUT A SPOONER
This has appeared before on the site in reference to my grandfather Jack and the Stork Club. But seeing that we were just talking about Jack's pal James Montgomery Flagg and the fact that if Christmas came more often we might have less war .......I had to Flagg It Again!

Knapp Co. 1910 This has been the cover of my personal Christmas Card for several years. Knapp Co. name was resurected in the early 1900's by J P for the Art Department of ALCO. It appeared on many Post Cards, Calenders and Sheet Music through 1929.

I believe this is may of been a Joseph P. Knapp litho which dates it about 1891 just prior to the formation of ALCO. It was used into the 1900's. Claire Antoinette Knapp (THE MAJOR DOG KNAPPER) would of been 11 in December 1900.
As a printer for all seasons and occassions American Litho churned out daily, tons of printed paper for every occasion. J. P.'s aquiring of magazines through the early 1900's gave him press capacity probably unequalled by anyone in the world. When he sold American Lithographic in 1929 just prior to the Wall Street stock market crash he retained ALCO-Gravure and remained the largest Roto - Gravure printer in the world. It's because of the amazing production capacity of the Knapp pressess that I have been able to aquire a modest collection of a variety of Knapp prints, magazines, and trade cards etc. I've shown some of them before but the next page will show some of the Knapp stuff that I decorate my home with ..... hungry for more?
