NY TIMES 1926
Here is what the New York Times had to say
about the start of Mastic Beach. Actually they are probably press
releases from The Smadbeck Brothers. This was of course when the
entire town was only Section
1.
Rolling Country???? Where? The only hill I remember
was the slight grade at the east end of Queen Road where it meets
with Park Dr.
We used to run our soapbox cars there.Realtors have
such a way with words
Where was the circa 1826 Lawrence
mansion? And what happened to it? A mile back from the bay would
place it near Birch (Neighborhood) Road. I have heard about an
old house that was near the Woodhull Cemetary on Lakeview Dr.
? and that it became another eyesore, like the Woodhull home.
I also heard that the Fire Department burned it down for practice?
Not sure if this is true or not.

month later
