The eastern bank of the Pattersquash
# 4 on map has been
this way since before America was a country.
"The Point"
#5 on the map
Located on the Knapp Estate at the
end of Locust Dr. This was most likely the location of the WWI
aero station in 1917.There were three floating hangers, three
Curtiss flying boats, a wireless station and 15 or more flyers
(including Dodi Knapp) mostly from Yale & Princeton. My reasoning
is because of the observation tower that survived here until the
1940's. BTW: It was a great place to catch
spring flounders in the 1950's
The View in 1930's
Just behind the tower is the
Woodhull Lodge which may of been used as the barracks
and just around the point we have
.....
The entrance to "Knapp Cove"
#6 on map
This is where Dodi Knapp kept his
Sea Sled "Miss
Demure" and the original 53 foot "Storm
King" and probably many more boats over the twenty some
years he spent here. The creek on the left fed into the pond on
his golf course.
